I mean imagine some guy from another cricketing nation asks u, I don't know know much about Sri Lankan cricketers, but I saw Kusal Perera' because his innings is rated the best test innings of all time, why is he not in the team, is he injured or something? I'm actually ashamed to tell he is not even in the team. This is why I have zero tolerance with Dickwella, not because I have anything against him playing for Sri Lanka, but because of him talented guys like Kusal Perera is missing out, because apparently no one else in the team can keep like Dickwella lol. I will not follow this series, will only look at the results at the end. I will also support Zimbabwe, and hope the guys who have weaknesses will get heavily exposed and will not score cheap runs. Go Zimbabwe!! That has been in pre production for like 5 yrs now. I don't think they will ever release the movie. ![]() 01-14-2020, 09:20 PM
Everyone: Why is Mendis in the side, he is a mediocre batsman who is not even averaging mid-tier when you consider averages from across the board, after a pretty good run in the side?
Mendis fan(s): BUT HOW WILL HE BECOME THE BEST BATSMAN IN 10 YEARS IF WE DROP HIM NOW. FAKE FANS. YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND CRICKET. SHALL WE MAKE A BET ? 01-14-2020, 10:19 PM
Sammy has a point. This truly abounds on the ridiculousness. Everyone plays each test or series without knowing if they are there for the next. Take the case with Chandi. Now KJP, this is rated as the best ever test innings by pundits and its not even a ful year, perhaps a full moon for De Mel and he is out. KJP should have been encouraged and supported. Now quite rightly he is disgusted. This De Mel is a fly by the night raider. Who he likes, who he hates etc etc. This guy is related to the Rjapakses. Sop I guess he is there to stay
How on earth did he justify Thirimanne. How many centries ofr50's??? 01-15-2020, 05:05 AM

Chief selector Asantha de Mel said his committee had dropped Kusal after consulting with new coach Mickey Arthur, who felt it was better for Kusal to remain in Sri Lanka and train for the white-ball series against West Indies in February, rather than tour Zimbabwe without getting a game.
"Most probably we will go with the same batting lineup [as we did in Karachi], with Angelo Mathews at four, Dinesh Chandimal at five, Dhananjaya de Silva at six and Niroshan Dickwella keeping," he told ESPNcricinfo. "Kusal has an issue with his hamstrings where he can't run around the field as much. And because Dickwella is the main keeper, we thought there was no point taking another keeper." Kusal had struck Sri Lanka's innings of the year in 2019, his 153 not out in Durban earning global plaudits, but had had a poor series against New Zealand in August and September last year, in which he made 1, 23, 0 and 0. He was in the squad, but did not play a Test in Pakistan. "Yes, Kusal can make 150s, but we needed someone who can occupy the crease, which is why we chose Thirimanne," de Mel said. "Thirimanne can also bat in the top order or as an opener." Thirimanne's batting average, however, is 22.64 after 68 innings. The selection of 37-year-old Dilruwan was also informed by conversations with coach Arthur, de Mel said. Dilruwan had gone wicketless during the tour of Pakistan, and averaged 112.80 in 2019, taking only five wickets in seven innings. He had been the equal-fastest Sri Lanka bowler to 150 Test wickets (taking 36 Tests to get there, the same as Muttiah Muralitharan), and this, essentially, is why the selectors are giving him another opportunity. "We have the England series at home coming up, and this Zimbabwe series is the test to see if he can still do the job," de Mel said. "If we dropped him now, we can't even look at him for the England series, so we'll see how he does in this series. In terms of offspinners, there's also no standout options aside from him." https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/28481452/lakmal-returns-kusal-perera-dropped-sri-lanka-test-squad 01-15-2020, 05:31 AM
Great Logic de Mel, you pick a guy who averages 22 after 68 test innings saying he could occupy the crease and drops a guy who very recently played the greatest innings of the decade and averages 31 in fewer test innings. I guess your time is up.

Obviously. FYI it's not me who thinks like that. Hathuru, and now Arthur also thinks likr that. Moreover honestly you people make a massive fuss about chopping and changing players but then again go mad for having someone like Mendis for having a lean year. That's a bitconfusing. Plus Mendis will be dropped when he's supposed to. I remember similarly DK went through a lean patch yet he subsequently managed to get in to his groove 2017. It's not like Kusal Mendis is keeping a great test batsman out of this squad. If you think so, pls suggest Kusal's replacement. Kusal Mendis~the almighty, set to return on the 31st Jul 2022
