Former SriLankan Airlines CEO Peter Hill, who rejoined the national carrier in an advisory capacity this February, will be leaving his position to head Fiji Airways.
“Yes, he’s leaving because he was offered this position,” SriLankan Airlines Chairman Ajith Dias said
.
Hill was the CEO of SriLankan from 1999 during its management by Emirates. However, his work visa was revoked in 2007, when he had refused to let former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and 35 close associates have seats on a fully booked flight from London to return from a private tour.
Since then, he had acted as the CEO of Oman Air until end of 2011, when he retired.
Hill has over 40 years of experience in the industry, with his beginnings in British Airways and Gulf Air prior to playing a major role in building Emirates to what it is today. -
