The usual names with the batters with Nuwanindu, Nipun, Nishan and Kamindu. Intrested to see what Sooriyabandara looks like.
Our test team is in a pretty decent state though. Only thing we really miss are good fast bowlers/fast bowling all-rounders. Obviously our batters can be better but hard to drop anyone really. Mendis and Dickwella are probably the weakest links. Our fast bowling contingent should still be decent enough though if its Rajitha/Asitha/MAdushanka with Kumara and Madushan as back ups. But with the typically low experience, I`m largely speculating. Am impressed with Asitha and Rajitha so far though. Main doubts are fitness.
We really miss a decent fast bowling all rounder. Arent many in test cricket to be fair.
The issue is these stats look good on paper, but need to see how they do when there is lots of movement, swing, seam, pace and or bounce. Lot of the guys look great when the ball is at certain speed. Then it starts exceeding 138+ they start looking bad. Dilshan Munaweera, Shehan Fernando and Angelo Perera to name a few example that just looked wrong from ball #1. Better to call them up now, give them consistent chance for 6-8 innings and let them get used to the international standards. Like I said, this Canadian kid that had scored one 50 in 4 years ended up scoring 5 50s in a row in SL. Few years ago a Canadian SL player was top 5 in batting and top 10 in bowling in SL FC season. His bowling is pretty mediocre. I think if guys are scoring like five 100s in a season just call them up already.
SLC could also work with UK second county XL or Aus Grade 1 cricket clubs and send the guys off for off season to train in difficult conditions. I know some of the West Indies batting imports for example avoid Canadian early spring and arrive a little late so they can boost their batting average. Some of the all rounder imports bully the captain in to bowling first and when batting second, they bat down lower than their regular position, so it is easier when the weather get's better. Actually, even the Pakistani imports do this. Indian imports are the only guys that kind of take on the challenge are also the most disciplined. Anyway, the point is that SL should send their rising talent abroad to get used to tougher condition. Make them play all year.
Nuwanindu and Kamindu have already done well at international/ A team tours. Madushka and Nipun were also pretty good at u19 levels. Think they`ll all be capable at international level.
Munaweera wasnt that bad.
