But I like flat pitches more because guys don't seem to understand how to pace t20 innings. Pitches where 140/150 is a match winning score doesn't really help does it? It allows guys to get in with 40 ball 50s . High scoring matches also put more pressure on players. But yeah I see what you mean
All these guys have been playing cricket for longer period than not. Cricket has been around their lives. These guys know what to do, they aren't dumb as they appear, lot of these guys have issue with impulse when it comes to wild shot selections. It probably worked throughout their lives when they played in flat pitches with inferior bowling, so they naturally tend to do it at international matches. These guys need to work on their shot selection. Harder it is, the better it is. Very few SL cricketers have good FC, List A and T20 records together.. SL players in domestics have always struggled in List A and T20. Not many guys have List A average over 35+. In fact very few ever had it above that as long as I can remember. Angelo Perera was the only one that I can remember that had List A and FC average over 35 when he made his debut. Kandamby was also hovering around 35 when he made his return after a long time(I think he made his return after a long time as a captain or vice captain). It was a weird period.
Flat pitch doesn't really help anyone. Pacer friendly pitch helps pacers, spinners(makes the spinners work hard and smart) and also the batsmen. I say make all the SL FC domestic pitch pacer friendly. But obviously it won't work because the clubs only like rank turners. There was an interview where Sanath(when he was in the admin) was talking about how difficult it is get clubs to make non-rank turners.SLC used to send their ground crew and make the FC playoffs pitches non-rank turners/flat. Sanath gave an interview about it. If I remember correctly, it was during a FC playoffs where Dhammika Prasad ran through the team and Semi-final and Final. That's what got him the call for SL for the 2nd time time around. My memory is kind of murky.
But since most international pitches in world cups and stuff are flat for t20, surely it is still better to put down those flat pitches. Flat pitches also make bowlers smart in the same manner. Batters also have to be smart when pacing chases for example and choosing who to hit out against.
