Gehan Mendis never played for SL.
I am not sure but I guess he can play for SL if he obtains citizenship. I don't think it has ever happened.
I guess he can't get citizenship through parents. Canada it is then. All I know is that he went straight and played, didn't train in SL. He only has four 50s in last 6 years in Canada, all of them coming from 3rd division or junior cricket and surprised how he managed to score 4 50s in 2 innings in SL.
