Pethum Nissanka follows up with a century to go with his last week double ton.
Get this guy in to the test squad and make him open.
Hell nah, must perform well in at least 3 seasons consistently. We've seen so many one season wonders like Waduge, Ashen Silva and recently Chandragupta. I saw Hemang Badani say that Indian selectors don't turn an eye for any talent performing in their first year(unless they are super skilled like Prithvi who scored a century on debut, that too in a Ranji Trophy final). Generally bowlers and oppositions has very little knowledge of a new player, so the new comer piles on tones of runs. In the second season, oppositions have very good idea, but the batsmen also work on their weakness since now they have first class coaches and trainers to look after them. In 3rd season, the new comer is maxed out and the weakness he has is uncorrectable. This is where opposition bowlers take advantage of their weakness and toil them hard.
It is great to see the youngster scoring runs, but there isn't anything he has that would make anyone say "wow". Let him prove his worth Randy.
What do u mean by saying he hasn't done anything. He has done decently so far in the games he has played. He has a knack of scoring big hundreds. Plus there isn't a proper opener for the current squad. I know he won't be selected right now, but he should be in contention post WC for the Tests.
