The match between NCC and Chilaw Marians finished inside two days. After two low first innings totals by both teams......206 & 128 in normal circumstances, Chilaw Marians were all out for 132 in 20.2 overs scoring at 6.49 rpo....... WTF........then NCC chasing a target of 211, all out for 116 in 28 overs scoring at 4.14 rpo. Why were the two teams in such a hurry in their second innings, this was a 3 day match of the Premier tournament in the country.
How on earth can we expect these players to play 4 day cricket, let alone 5 day test cricket, if this the attitude and the manner in which they approach the premier FC tournament. I think the authorities should seriously look at such incidents and fine clubs for lowing the standard of our main FC tournament. The match was played at the FTZ ground in Katunayake.
Lasith Ambuldeniya took a10 fer for NCC.
Another thing I noticed was that spinners have opened the bowling in most matches.......I guess that gives a lot of comfort for fast bowlers There was specific instructions given by the national selectors couple of years back for the fast bowlers to be used more so that they will gain exposure and experience but it seems all that is ignored now. No wonder our fast bowlers break down after one long spell.
