Not the worst option I guess given he looks to be in decent nick and seems to enjoy playing in Eng as well (500 runs @ 55 sr around 90). Still would be surprised if he actually comes off. I somehow want to see Dhananjaya in that top order and Kusal in the lower order. Quite clearly two guys worth investing in for the future. Also for the first time saw Pushpakumara bowling yday looked decent for mine.
So if UT plays CT 15 man squad for me would be
UT
Dicky (wk)
Dhananjaya
Mendis
Mathews
Asela
Kusal
Chaturanga/Pathirana
Lakmal
Pradeep
Sandakan
Chandi
Munaweera
Kumara/Chameera
Chandi has a very good record in England iirc. He must bat at three, not De Silva who seems to be struggling right now. Seekuge much better then Pathirana, decent spinner; can be used as a floater in the batting line up.
Yeah Chandi seems to go ok in Eng (500 runs @ 38 sr 81 atm) but Dhananjaya is worth a shot for me looks a class bat (touch wood hahaha). The issue is that selectors keep moving him around. He has done well at the top (250 runs @ 50 sr 90) and looked good yday as well. I think we should take the gamble. With our attack we are going to need bats who can score quick our only chance of beating a top side for mine. I don't think playing it safe will get us anywhere given the mismatches.
Seekuge does add some much needed energy to the side no doubt but I don't think we'll be able to get 10 overs out of him. I can see him getting slog-swept out of the attack after the first few overs. Hardly spins the ball or varies the pace just darts it in. Might work in T20s but don't think that's going to fly in ODIs with less protection outside the circle. As for Pathirana he's much more reliable with both the ball and bat for mine. I think he deserves it been very consistent in recent times.
Vote for McLovin for world peace & all that good stuff.
