I don't think Broad can play for that long.

The candidate Murali chose last year He's completely out of the picture
Quote:“Ashwin has a chance because he is a great bowler. Other than that, I don’t think any younger bowler coming in will go to 800. Maybe Nathan Lyon is not good enough to reach it. He is close to 400 (396) but he has had to play many, many matches to get there,” Muralitharan had said, as quoted by Telegraph. 08-30-2022, 02:56 AM

Murali backed Harbhajan to get close. He was dropped a few months later. Backed Gota. Had to leave the country. It's a curse.

I can't remember the numbers. It was just before Murali retired
Quote:Muttiah Muralitharan has singled out Harbhajan Singh as the only bowler capable of emulating his record feat in Tests. Murali, the leading wicket-taker in Tests and ODIs, who will retire from the longest format later this month, also said the decline of Tests and 50-over cricket meant slow bowlers would struggle for survival. 08-30-2022, 12:31 PM
With T20, IPL and other tournaments I dont see anyone breaking any of Murali's 800. Rashid Khan might be able to break Murali's 534 if he plays long enough and crack's the Pashtun genetics restriction. He is a hardworking player.
