OK I looked up a few, I think a lens in the 24-200mm range is not going to be a cheap option. The best they have are about 16/18-55mm range which should still do the trick. These are few of my suggestions, not necessarily in any order.
Most of these come with lenses that start at the 16mm range, which is actually really wide angle. Which is nice since your main focus is going to be landscapes. Then 50mm focus means limited zoom, so you won't be able to zoom in on stuff even 50ft away, but it's workable for social situations (and of course noods) when you want to take pictures at a party or something.

I know that these are a little over your budget limit, but one option is to go for a used camera, which can cut down the price 100-200 or so. Also keeping an eye during the upcoming holiday season for deals is a good idea you might be able to snatch one for a bargain price.
