Absolute chaos at the Copa final and a huge blunder between organiser and the ground owners.
People without tickets crashing in Gates closed to fans with tickets Terrible pitches with grass thrown on top of existing grass with panels and seams falling apart. The WC needs to be sorted out by FIFA or this will end up a huge mess. 07-16-2024, 10:06 PM
Gareth resigns.
The FA now faces its biggest decision since 1966. The expectations for this team and squad are immense, so whoever steps in has a huge task ahead of them, including handling the media, and winning trophies. Do they opt for local talent or look abroad? The dream foreign appointments would be Pep Guardiola or Jürgen Klopp. These might seem like pipe dreams, but they’re not entirely impossible given where both are in their careers. Pocchitinio may be the other choice. If they choose local, it’s likely to be Eddie Howe or Lee Carsley. -- Gareth Southgate's retirement marks the end of an era for English football. He always stated he wouldn't overstay his welcome, and unfortunately, this Euros has been particularly harsh and unfair for him from the fans. After the poor performance against Slovenia, Gareth showed immense character by walking up to the fans to protect his team from the boos and jeers, only to have beer cups thrown at him. This incident visibly shook him, and for the first time, his usually calm demeanor in post-match interviews was disturbed as he spoke out about the treatment. Many fans may not fully appreciate the transformation he's brought to the dressing room. He instilled a sense of unity and professionalism that had been lacking. However, perhaps his downfall was not having the tactical nuance to integrate all the big names into a cohesive system. His loyalty to certain players, like Kane, might have also been a factor. Despite these criticisms, the treatment he received during this tournament from a section of the fans was undeserved. He took on a tough role and managed to bring the team to new heights, and he deserved better for his efforts. -- I want to thank Gareth for everything he’s done. England has gone from the lowest of lows, being knocked out by Iceland, to the highs of reaching semi-finals and finals. It’s a shame they couldn’t cross the finish line, but this is more success than I ever imagined for this team. He’s made it a point of pride to support England again. Gareth has been a man of dignity and honour, always guided by a strong moral compass. He has rekindled the fans' love for the England side and united the squad, overcoming the club cliques and issues that plagued past teams. I hope he finds success in whatever he does next. 08-26-2024, 11:27 PM
Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has died at the age of 76.
Eriksson, the first non-British manager of the England team, led the Three Lions to the quarter-finals at three major tournaments during his five-year spell in charge between 2001 and 2006. In January, Eriksson said he had "at best" a year to live after being diagnosed with cancer. His children, Lina and Johan, said on Monday: "Our father Sven-Goran Eriksson fell asleep peacefully in his home at Bjorkefors outside Sunne this morning. He has for a long time fought bravely with his illness, but now it came to an end. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/clyw3lze152o |
