I am actually ready to accept if my theory was WRONG. I have no problem accepting at any stage that I was WRONG with any of my past comments. Even besides the T20 Team Batting 2nd argument, I have previously accepted that I was wrong on many occasions. I honestly am very happy to see the BigBash stats, with proven top T20 batters in most of those chasing teams, they still could not win. So, that advantage we saw in the T20 WC, could only be due to the dew factor. As for LPL stats batting 2nd stats, I started to realize that too was going against my theory. However, until BigBash stats was clear and showed this to us, I did not want to believe in LPL stats because our teams don't have powerful T20 style batsmen to chase a target and win consistently. This is not the case in a T20 WC among the top 4-6 teams. As most of you correctly pointed out, we saw how Chamika once the pressure was off and the fielders/bowlers were relaxed, started hitting all around the ground. Not that Chamika is a bad T20 batsman at all, he has won us many matches in the recent past (for the national team), but on that particular occasion his innings was a waste! So, because our LPL chasers did not have that T20 WC caliber batsmen, I was ignoring those stats until BigBash stats came along.
I was very worried that such a marketable Cricket Format (in countries like US, France, Canada, Germany, Japan, China and Russia) with the possible Olympic inclusion, having a flaw. I didn't care about me being right or wrong, and one day being laughed and ridiculed at or whatnot. I was simply looking at the bigger picture for the benefit of the Sport, and not me.
But, on a second thought, I also thought of why should I bother taking this to ICC when my favourite team - Sri Lanka has no obvious disadvantage over this. If there was an actual flaw, let the countries like India/England/Australia worry about it more than us - the Sri Lankans.
This was not the case when ICC would call one of our spinners for chucking while bowlers like Ashwin, with a strange action, is allowed to bowl without forcing to go through scientific testing in a lab of the way Akila, Murali and Sachitra were subjected to. Then, this is also not impacting us the way on-field umpiring was biased against smaller, powerless countries like Sri Lanka before DRS was introduced.
Finally, I would like to thank Bada for repeatedly trying to correct me by submitting data, and also at no time did he try to ridicule or laugh at me for coming up with that idea. I also appreciate Muga for encouraging me to express those ideas/opinions. Most of you were great judges and presented arguments and facts to convince me that there was no flaw.
Thank you,
You made such a big ha-ho about your batting 2nd theory and now you have backflipped altogether. The main problem with your argument was lack of data and the small sample size. You should have done more research on the subject before you made such a huge argument. Anyway great to see you have acknowledged your mistake, well done.
