Now to the LPL final match analysis from me; I am sorry, if you have discussed this instant before. I didn't get a chance to read through all the pages yet.
1) Why did Galle change the keeper? Kusal Mendis was doing an excellent job keeping, diving at full length to stop the ball or take catches. Ben Dunk missed a crucial catch from Avishka early on, and I thought that was the turning point of the match. It was a delivery from Udana going left-arm over the wicket, angling to Avishka's off stump area, he gave a catch to the 1st slip region, and Dunk missed it. With no slips, T20 keepers should be able to reach to that length easily and take catchers. The other day I saw in the Ashes 2nd test, Josh Butler took a diving catch to dismiss an Aussie batsman, and that was much longer leap than what Dunk had to do.
Those who pick Avishka Fernando for our T20 opener slot again, should realize top T20 teams would not let him thrive this way with this obvious flaw that he has. Udana wasn't a top class pace bowler, and he is now a days very useless, yet his bowling was able to induce Avishka to make that mistake and give a catch to the keeper/1st slip region.
As I said before, other than Colombo no other LPL team had a decent bowling lineup to give a fight to this Jaffna team. That brings me to Bhanuka R.
2) The 3 matches Galle won against Jaffna prior to the final, that I noticed, were mainly due to BR's strategic captaincy. Once his team put a defendable total, he was doing a great job marshalling his troops on the field, and I was hoping that would be the case if Galle was to win that final too. I was hoping he would get both of his left arm pace bowlers to hit Avishka's weak area more than that one or two occasions when Udana's erratic bowling found some line & length.
This is the trivia I put forward before the final match and requested that PJ and others to show what are the possible ways where Galle could win that match. I was hoping someone would bring up BR's captaincy as the reason where Galle had any chance at all, but instead I got ridiculed and laughed at again for my theory on batting 2nd advantage.
