Sure it made the difference between the 2 sides smaller in the end but he only started going for it when the match was near over. Dhoni used to do this too but I'm don't going to compare Dhoni with Chamika at this stage.
I don't think anyone is blaming Chamika for the loss but his lack of runs very early on in his innings didn't help matters. He could have tried to keep the RR in check but he opted to go deep I guess. With 5 wickets down I don't blame him but he let it get away wayy too much before he started to go for it.
Avishka's knock was pretty good too.
I can't understand why you guys keep harping on Chamika's slow start when others have done jack shit. You guys keep blaming the guy who made some runs while ignoring the fact all others failed to make any significant contribution. You guys are talking as if it was a crime for Chamika to score so many runs in the last few overs. I can understand the criticism if the top order had contributed and Chamika's slow start had put a spanner in the works. If not for him, Dambulla would have gone down in a heap.
As I said before. I am not blaming Chamika for the loss. That's something you've introduced to this argument. I never said it was a crime to score runs later either. I've also literally said I don't blame him for his approach when they were 5 down with a huge total to chase.
All I said was his slow start didn't help an already 90% lost cause.
Sorry if that upsets you.
