Additionally we dont know which positions these guys will perform their best in. Both Hasaranga and Chamika havent looked as convincing as they potentially could be in t20 as of yet. Furthermore by pushing them up the order, even if they fail we arent really losing any batting power. In fact it allows us to play an extra batsmen/bowler
Jayasuriya and Dilshan were exceptional talents, it's a joke to compare those two to any of the players now. I personally don't think Thisara would have done well if he was moved up because he has limited array of shots. I dont mind sending Hasaranga and Chamika up the order as pinch hitters according to match situations but not on a permanent basis. The other thing is if we push them up the whole batting will have to change, Each player has to know his role in the team, it's not going to do any good to the team if we keep changing it.
No doubt Dilshan and Jayasuriya were exceptional talents. But this was for the most part only found out after they were moved up? Another thing is, we basically only played with like 3 settled batters in the t20 wc. Avishka, KJP and Dasun all kept failing in the second round. So there isnt anything to lose by sending these guys up. Again we never knew if Thisara could or could not because we never played him up.
