Our current openers havent been the best with KJP out of form and Nissanka still being a little slow and iffy. Furthermore Avishka hasnt performed yet. I also feel like other guys trying to open such as Kusal Mendis etc might be better down the order as finishers as I think they can start blasting quicker than Chamika. Also it doenst necessarily have to be opening. Either way, our death overs batting right now is not the best and I`m not sure Hasaranga and Chamika are the answer yet
This is what we always do wrong, as soon as we see someone perform in the middle or lower order we want to push them up the order. Ultimately we lose them for ever. Not everyone can open or bat higher up the order same as not everyone is suited to bat in the middle /lower order. Each player has to given a position where he can perform at his best, that is the best way to get full use of their ability.... not by shifting them all over the place.
We dont always do wrong. Jayasuriya? Dilshan? Lots of people have in fact been lamenting that THisara wasnt moved up more. Additionally we dont know which positions these guys will perform their best in. Both Hasaranga and Chamika havent looked as convincing as they potentially could be in t20 as of yet. Furthermore by pushing them up the order, even if they fail we arent really losing any batting power. In fact it allows us to play an extra batsmen/bowler
