Superb opening partnership from Jaffna which took the game away from Dambulla. Excellent 100 from Avishka, even better innings from Chamika Karunaratne when the chips were down. It was that innings alone which kept the losing margin to 23 runs.
I am not into making predictions but I am going with Galle to win the final simply because I think they deserve to win on overall performance during the tournament. They have been steady with performance, tactics and team balance. On the other hand, Jaffna have some big names who can turn round the match on their own. Hope it will be an interesting match.
Match was gone when Chamika started firing. He had a very poor start. He was probably 7 off 15 or something. His inability to read Wanindu and rotate the strike pressured newer batsmen to play risky and lose wickets. He started whacking it when there was no pressure at the end (because the game was already over).
Match was already gone when Chamika arrived at the crease. What was left was the late middle order and the tail, there was no proper batsmen left. Chamika took his time at the start and then started to whack it around. The bottom line is he ended up with a SR of nearly 160 batting with the tail.
