I would not put Dickwella anywhere near a captaincy post. He was clueless in this match, no leadership at all. What Dasun should have done is, when the opening partnership started to get going for Jaffna (which was the turning point in the match), Dasun should have asked a player to come out with a fake injury (like that guy who bowled last) and went in and took control of the Dambulla team. After all Mathews played with an injury, so why can't Dasun do the same at least in that crucial time. I saw him standing outside the boundary line. But, anyway, this comment is based on his injury is not that severe, with that assumption.
Also, Chamika being such a thoughtful bowler, was giving freebies to Avishka in that last over he bowled. The 5th ball (18.5) in that last over he bowled was way outside off closer to the wide line, which Avishka only hit for a single. That should have been the line for all of the pace bowlers, how difficult is that for them to maintain that? When they go off from that line, can the captain or the coach make a quick reminder to the bowler? Even our Sri Lankan T20 fast bowlers were not following this strategy at all, which Malinga and Kulasekera once used very effectively to win a T20 WC for us.
I would not bowl either Nuwan Pradeep or Lahiru Kumara in any white ball cricket death overs. Pradeep was awful today!
