Preople use to give me shit for rating Vandersay so high, but he has found his form it seems. Look's like he has ditched his killer slider/flipper that was forcing him to bowl lot of terrible balls and has something similar but a little slower.
The issue is SL on the surface has good batting talent, but they all have to perform and it can be a struggle. Everyone has weakness and strength, most of these guys have been playing cricket since they were babies, if they still have weakness it is truly difficult to patch up. 21 year Tharanga was super impressive, had an issue with nicking towards the wk and slips, never corrected it. So it is tough to predict how they will do. I mean Kapugedara was pretty talented, people give him shit for playing 200+ matches, but he mostly played under Mahela-Sanga captaincy, they could have easily benched him, but they didn't so they definitely saw something in him. Unmukt Chand is another example, he was a U19 WC winning captain was the firs u-19 player to do ads with Kohli and Dhoni. He didn't go elsewhere, now he is playing cricket in US lol.
I just meant that if Hasaranga or Theekshana was injured, there are heaps of somewhat adequate replacements. UNlike in fast bowling where if chameera is injured, we are kinda screwed.
Spin bowling performances in this tournament should be taken with a grain of salt. Pitches were super spin friendly and every spinner was looking like a Muralidaran. Weren't all spinners ineffective in Hamba games?
