Good question. Interesting to know if club cricket counts as sanctioned or not. Even Thiri plays for some low level club league in AUS, if it's sanctioned then I don't know how they justify the argument of monitoring approaches by corrupt individuals. Or does it count as unsanctioned when some betting involved. 11-24-2021, 11:53 AM

Also what about like social tournaments and stuff. If a player played in something like that, would they be banned? I think there's no scrutiny if a minor tournament is approved by a full member board. 11-24-2021, 12:08 PM
A tournament has to be televised for all kinds of dodgy stuff to work.
There's a delay of about 12 seconds between the real time action and the telecast you see on TV. Bookies/illegal bettors would send people to the ground so they could send real time ball by ball data. SLC arrested a few some time ago. I noticed two guys at SSC in 2018 who did this. They had 3 or 4 smartphones. They were typing at the end of each delivery. This is illegal betting. Then there's spot fixing when they get the players involved to bowl wides/no balls or to not score more than a certain number of runs in the first 5/10 deliveries and so on. You get the drill. 11-24-2021, 12:29 PM

Yeah, someone can place a bet from the ground as they already know the result. This works for ball by ball and over by over betting options. Also, if these people at the ground are employed by bookies, they'd know the results so they can make sure they don't lose a lot of money to bettors. 11-24-2021, 12:39 PM

Need to look at younger I know he was in discussion with a club here in Canada and the Cricket Canada to get signed after he lost out on the SLC contract 2 years ago. Not sure what happened afterwards. It would have been a good deal for him it was a Club+National Team + Gt20 contract. He would have maid a good $50,000 to $60,000. He could have also came in right away and played since he hadn't played for SL for more than 3 years back then. |
