If a player can perform irrespective of age, height etc, I don't see anything wrong in him playing in a t20 league. That said, Dilshan has only said he is available, it will depend on whether any of the franchises actually wants him. So there is no point in jumping the gun and arguing about something that might not happen in the end.
If a 45-year-old Dilshan comes back and performs, that will devalue the tournament. T20 "stars" care about their reputation and market. They don't want other leagues to know that they are playing in some boot-leg league where Dilshan returns after 5 years and performing well. Some of the players in GT20 Canada got paid like $300K USD to play for 3 weeks. They also got a personal limo service throughout, access to all the night clubs via reservations and didn't place any curfews. The quality of the tournament was good, this is why they returned for the 2nd time and the 2nd time they improved the venue even better. There are ways to build a tournament's reputation. Whether Dilshan plays or not, his participation will only do damage.
Let's talk about it when it actually happens.
