Hasaranga was exceptional again for the Stallions. This win means Tuskers are almost certain to make the semis with Galle losing their match with Dambulla. Today's match between Kandy and Galle will decide who will get through but Kandy should be favorites with a better run rate. Galle will have to win by a huge margin if they are to go through.
Not really. Galle is ahead in the net run rate. A win against Kandy will put them through. So todays match between Kandy and Galle is a virtual quarterfinal
Anyone else thinks it is ingenious by SL cricket to have the the inaugural LPL with a semi final and final format despite having 5 teams. Obviously they did it for money this was not their intention but indirectly it has turned out to be a master plan. This is because we want all the franchises to remain interested in the tournament in the first edition, we don't want to lose the galle gladiators owners next year, because I'm sure having a pakistan team in Sri lanka will mean guys like Bhanuka rajapaksha and danushka will have an advantage and will be favoured in auctions when they are selecting foreign players for the gladiators in the pakistan league. So it is beneficial for both. Obviously in the 2nd edition if they hold the tournament in this format it is going to be stupid. They either have to add more team, give the teams ranked first and second another opportunity if they lose the knockout, or have 3 teams to qualify. Anyway for the first edition to keep everyone interested, this format has been great,
