We have been critical of the system forever but is the system somewhat working ?

Are you seriously asking this Mugs.  We’ve talked about how it’s dysfunctional for the last 10 years.  Could be so much better and more competitive.  Facilities also need upgrading.  Also not sure whether players have adequate dietetic advice.

Its that extra swimming pool. Need more swimming pools.

I think it's all about that U19 group from 2016/17 clicking. Asalanka was expected to be a proper all-format player, but he has underachieved in FC cricket. If the system (senior domestic cricket?) worked, he should be an established Test batter by now.

The main domestic tournament SL has now (NSL) is definitely better than club cricket, but SL cricket isn't anywhere near full potential since it hasn't gone provincial for real.

Kamindu is an exceptional case. Leave him aside.

This. In my opinion, we are winning in spite of the system, not because of it as someone with exceptional talent and ability has emerged.

The win loss percentage could be so much better if we had a stronger and more robust system.

The system we have between school cricket and international is beautiful. It's all within a 2-3 km walk for me, although I need about 25 minutes to get there. Not everyone can walk it in 15 just because PJ does. Once you get there, you will see how serious and professional it is. Sheffield Shield is a joke in comparison.
