Of course it can happen but I doubt they will be called up. The second 4 day match against SA A starts on the 15th and finishes on the 18th and first test against NZ starts on the 18th. So, if one of them is call up, they will have to arrive in the next couple of days. Not the ideal preparation, if it's Pasindu who will be making his test debut. Doubt it very much.

Real professionals would have dropped him in 2021 and made him to work in FC cricket for two seasons. Would only be considered for Test cricket again if he averaged 50+ there.

Tharanga probably thinks like this about a player who averages 22 in WTC because he has no clue about performance indicators

I'd drop him even if he scores a brilliant 150 v NZ. That's because I know he will finish his career only as an average batter even at his best. Just a piss poor batter right now. Mainly depends on bowlers feeding him stuff around middle stump that can be dispatched to the leg side. Decent defense but poor technique and strokeplay when it comes to off side play.

The answer to the question in the opening post: Anyone who can average 25.

And a decent keeper(Mendis is very decent keeper and is probably the fittest player in the team)
