Oshada Fernando, who impressed with a century and fifty in Sri Lanka A’s recent win over South Africa A, is set to return home and rejoin the national squad for the upcoming New Zealand tour of Sri Lanka.

I was more impressed that Lahiru was able to play 2 full test matches without breaking down, even more than his performance. Lahiru has this knack of getting injured in the middle of a test match, rather than before, so this is almost terminal when we try to win test matches. So I think it will be good to rest him for most home games, and utilise him for away games. However he should play prudently here and there at home also, to prevent rustiness. If we play Lahiru in this test series, it is inevitable he is going to get injured at some stage. 09-12-2024, 07:06 AM
Selectors will have a positive headache because Wellalage and Vandersay will also be pushing for selection. So most likely Ramesh Mendis and Prabhath will play, however they can not be complacent. If they create huge turners that turn from day 1 might even consider playing vandersay instead of Vishwa for excellent variety.

He is crucial I felt he improved a lot in terms of a limited over bowler, so I don't know if it will translate to test cricket. However I used to laugh previuously when I saw him in the team sheet, now he has gained my respect and like you I will be curious to see how he goes, as i now realise he definitely does have some potential. 09-12-2024, 07:10 AM

Very good move by selectors How long Dimuth and Angelo will play? 09-12-2024, 07:14 AM
Wellalage and Vandersay are usually not considered for Tests? I think they were flat in NSL. Peiris and Sahan who are with the A team took a lot of wickets.

OK so they had Vandersay in the Test squad after his spell in that ODI. Might play a Test at Galle.

I don't think we have announced the squads for NZ tour have we? Did PJ call Sana again ? PJ really is Annatar, the lord of gifts. 09-12-2024, 07:26 AM
The pressure on Oshada to score and impress Regista is massive.
