I can't remember an international match being played at home on a pres election day. Previous elections were on Nov 16, 2019 and Jan 8, 2015 if anybody wants to check. I'm too lazy to go through CI archives.

Checked, not a single international match in any format has been played on Presidential election day since 1982.
The services they need to host a Test match should function normally. It's a matter of local people involved (players, coaches, staff, etc.) not being able to vote.
Also, if the Test goes to day 5, I imagine they wouldn't want news reports of players having their famous green tea party while following the election results telecast at 3am.
OK fair enough but still it's a minor percentage you can argue various people can miss voting due to unfortunate circumstances whatever the day they come up with
Unless it's not possible due to security or logistical issues, both should just go ahead as scheduled.
I'm not saying they should change at all, but they might be tempted due to the reasons I pointed out. There's usually an extra day allocated later for people who were unable to send postal votes on time. I haven't checked on that because I don't care.

People forget that election violence used to be a huge deal in SL
