I lived there for a couple of years. There were a lot of Sinhalese in the suburbs of London those days. Bunch of SL Buddhist temples as well. Don't know stats.
Found these https://researchonline.ljmu.ac.uk/11772/1/2019nandasinghephd.pdf The main and oldest organisation representing the Sinhalese community in the UK are the UK Sinhala association.[45] The newspaper Lanka Viththi was created in 1997 to provide a Sinhala newspaper for the Sinhalese community.[46] The largest population of British Sri Lankan Sinhalese can be found in the north of London, mainly in Harrow, Neasden, and Willesden (North West London), and Hanwell (West London). In 2006, a Sinhala TV channel called Kesara TV was set up in London to provide the Sinhala speaking people of the UK a TV channel in Sinhala.[47] The current Sinhalese community in the UK has arrived over the past 70 years since the end of the colonial era in Ceylon. They represent at least 3 generations with each of them being the immigrants, their children, and grandchildren.[8] https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Sri_Lankans#:~:text=The%20largest%20population%20of%20British,and%20Hanwell%20(West%20London). 06-30-2024, 11:25 PM

Listen to the podcast for details. The number of people born in Sri Lanka living in Australia is reported to be 131,904. This is according to data from the 2021 Census of Australia. 85,800 of these are Sinhala speaking people, out of these 49,500 live in Victoria. https://images.sbs.com.au/sinhala_280622_censussl_final.mp3 I couldn't find details for the UK. 07-01-2024, 01:51 AM
There's research data on the PDF link I posted about how the Sinhalese community has grown in the UK, but please don't bother to click on that
Quote:Sinhalese Buddhist people have been living in the United Kingdom for a period spanning over three generations. They have grown in number rapidly over the last five decades and have organized themselves as a distinctive community. 07-01-2024, 01:59 AM
