It wouldn't have made a difference which bowlers played after we were bundled out for 77. Hasaranga could have used Pathirana at the start to try and get few quick wickets. We had to get at least 4 wickets before they reached 20-25 to have even a small chance of a surprise win.

If they had two non-slingy fast bowlers (chameera+ madushanka) they could'be bowled in tandem for 8 overs. That's how we could've got 5 wickets cheaply. See how effective Shanaka was on the pitch. Pathirana can't get the same effect with his action. He's not a seam bowler anyways.

Naturally you don't follow the sri lankan matches closely as us, so you would not feel that way, but definitely there is an IQ issue

Look at this quote by your countryman "Rohit Sharma", after playing on a very difficult pitch against Ireland in thir first game of this T20 world cup where Ireland only managed to score 98, to understand the stark difference between the IQ of the captains.

"I said it at the toss, we were quite unsure of what to expect from the pitch. It's a new ground, new venue, drop-in pitch, we weren't aware of what's it like to pay on a pitch that is five-months old. It was all about getting used to the conditions, that's why we opted to bowl first"

First match in any tournament is always tricky. SL should have bowled first but they are a bat first side especially in T20Is. They will do well in future matches.

There's no flexibility at all to assess the conditions and match situation and make plans on the field.
Some if these are so obvious to see. Been happening since Shanaka captaincy days.

Wonder if the coaching staff can't see these or it's so ingrained in the players that they can't do anything about it.

That's what I am saying? Either the coach is bad and his planning and ideas are terrible, or his plans are fine and we can't execute cuz the skill level is utterly crap.

Coach can spray them as much as he wants but if the talent pool is crap not much is gonna happen

This is factually incorrect. SL is better chasing in T20I according to the stats for the previous 5 years.
