I completely agree. I mean this can clearly be seen in the way how players react to the media. Some of the things Mendis, Hasaranga has said to media at times are outrageous. Even DDS, trying to make smart comments when asked about Shakib is not something I was overtly impressed with. I hope Sri Lanka cricket gets some consultant, to teach players how to speak to media

While education system does need a fix, to have high IQ in cricket you don't nessecarily need to have very good education qualifications. For example Malinga has very high cricket IQ, despite lack of education qualifications. However he is also poor at other stuff like handling the media at times. I just want players with high cricket IQ, I don't care if they have low IQ in other areas. However as you have said last 2 generations of sri lankan cricketers severly lack cricket IQ.

The funny thing is this is not something that is permanent that you are born with. Every cricketer can improve their cricket IQ by learning from their mistakes and not repeating them. However this new lot are so arrogant, that they even fail to identify and accept their mistakes, so what little chance do they ever have of learning from their mistakes and improving their cricket IQ.

Don't think the issue is with the IQ level, the problem was with the execution.

SL under Wanindu wanted to stamp their authority on the game straightaway which didn't come off.

The boundary was not huge btw.

8. Keeping the field spread when the opposition only needs to score singles to win. They brought fielders in after a while and resulted in a wicket
9. Keeper standing way at back when the bowl is not carrying
10. When there are 4 fielders behind in the boundary line, when it's obvious that opposition is trying to bounce you out, attempt to take fielders on with hook shots

Probably social media is the reason for this. That being said the new gen SL players over the last decade have been playing like idiots and it is so apparent. The only other comparison being Bangladesh. I remember the days when SL would just for the entire game would just have 1 six, the rest will play ground shots, rotate strike, respect good bowlers, see them off and take on the weaker bowlers. Now you can almost guess how SL players will choke.

I wouldn't say we played like morons in the SA game. Nobody (except Hasaranga) tried to hit it out the park before settling down. The fact that the outfield was so slow, they could bring in fielders in to stop runs. They forced batsmen to go for big shots. It was hard to hit through the line and all outfielders were at the back.

Yup, but, Shanaka was exceptional wasn't he. Maybe Theekshana for Mathews last over.

They used Mathews and Shanaka because they were getting bounce + movement in the pitch. Batsmen was struggling to hit them and they got few edges. We should've ideally played both Chameera and Madushanka in place of Thushara and Theekshana in this pitch.
