Also considering its IPL season. Might as well pull the plug on it and maybe play 3 T20s. Without IPL i'd die of boredom. 1.5 months of cricket will get me through the spring and then its bbq and ice cold beer all day 04-07-2021, 07:36 AM
They should give this year's T20 WC to AUS. It was supposed to be played there last year anyway. Situation is much better there.

What is the lowest run-aggregate for a completed first-class match? asked SM Nazmus Shakib from Bangladesh
The fewest runs in a first-class game is 85, in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match between Quetta (41 all out) and Rawalpindi (44 for 1) in Islamabad in 2008-09: it was all over in 20.1 overs. There were unusual circumstances: bad weather had prevented any play on the first two days, and both sides forfeited their first innings. The lowest for a game in which all four innings were played is 105 runs, in the match between MCC (33 and 19) and the touring Australians (41 in 66.2 four-ball overs, and 12 for 1) at Lord's in 1878. It was all over in one day - Fred "The Demon" Spofforth took 6 for 4 in MCC's first innings, and Harry Boyle 6 for 3 in the second. WG Grace was out second ball in the first innings, for four, and made a duck in the second. "One of the most remarkable matches ever played at Lord's was commenced at three minutes past 12, and concluded at 20 minutes past six the same day," said Wisden, which went on to report that at the end, "a stream of at least one thousand men rushed frantically up to the pavilion, where they clustered, and lustily shouted 'Well done Australia', 'Bravo Spofforth', 'Boyle, Boyle' &c, &c; the members of the MCC keenly joining in the applause of that 'maddened crowd', who shouted themselves hoarse before they left to scatter far and wide that evening the news, how in one day the Australians had so easily defeated one of the strongest MCC elevens that had ever played for the famous old club." The 1878 Australian team that skittled MCC for 33 and 19. Fred Spofforth (seated, extreme left) took 6 for four in the first innings, Harry Boyle (seated, extreme right) 6 for 3 in the second. 04-07-2021, 11:26 PM
Rachin Ravindra, Jacob Duffy get maiden call-ups for England Tests
If selected to play, Ravindra would be the youngest New Zealand Test player since Ish Sodhi All-rounder Rachin Ravindra and seamer Jacob Duffy have received maiden Test call-ups for New Zealand's upcoming two-match series in England. Doug Bracewell, who last played a Test in August 2016, also makes a comeback. Besides Ravindra and Duffy, Devon Conway is the third uncapped player in the Test squad. The 29-year-old, who has been incredibly consistent in the limited overs formats in his brief career, had earlier been called up as cover for skipper Kane Williamson, during the home Test series in December 2020, but the talented left-hander couldn't make it to the playing XI. Overall, New Zealand have announced a strong 20-member squad for the Test series which starts on June 2. The New Zealand players involved in the Indian Premier League will be managed "on a case by case basis depending on when their team exits the tournament." Kane Williamson, Mitchell Santner, Trent Boult and Kyle Jamieson are the four New players who will take part in IPL. The squad will be further cropped to a 15-men contingent for the World Test Championship Final at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton which is set to get underway on June 18 against India. Squad: Kane Williamson ©, Tom Blundell, Trent Boult, Doug Bracewell, Devon Conway, Colin de Grandhomme, Jacob Duffy, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Henry Nicholls, Ajaz Patel, Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, Neil Wagner, BJ Watling (wk), Will Young "We're absolutely delighted for Rachin and Jacob," were the words of New Zealand's coach, Gary Stead. "I've seen first-hand how hard these guys have worked in our NZC winter training squads and with New Zealand A, and so for them to earn their maiden Test call-ups for such a special tour will be really satisfying." Wellington Firebirds' Ravindra scored two centuries for New Zealand A against the West Indians in November 2020. The left-handed all-rounder notched up his maiden Plunket Shield century against Northern Districts in March 2021 while returning from a dislocated shoulder. He backed it up with a couple of three-fers in the very next game against Auckland. "Rachin's been earmarked as a star of the future since his Under-19 days and we've been really encouraged by the advancement in his game this season, with both bat and ball. He's obviously an opening option, but also has the ability to bat in the middle order which combined with his left-arm finger spin make him a great asset to our squad," said Stead. Jacob Duffy kick-started his international career in style with a Player of the Match performance in a T20I against Pakistan. The 26-year-old Otago Volts pacer ended up as the joint fifth highest wicket-taker in this season's Plunket Shield by scalping 22 wickets in 9 innings. He had picked the same number of wickets in the season prior to that and was the joint-highest wicket-getter alongside Neil Wagner. "Jacob's been a consistent performer on the domestic circuit and his ability to swing the ball made him a particularly compelling option with a Dukes ball in English conditions," Stead said. Bracewell returns on the back of a decent Plunket Shield performance where the 30-year-old picked 15 wickets at an impressive average of 26.20. "Doug's a match winner and we're confident he'll enjoy bowling on English pitches in June," said Stead. However, Bracewell along with Colin de Grandhomme and Ross Taylor will need to pass a fitness test before leaving for the United Kingdom. Ajaz Patel too returns to the squad after an injury and joins Mitchell Santner and Ravindra in the spinning department, with all of them being left-arm orthodox. Lockie Ferguson, who is recovering from a partial-stress fracture in his back, was not considered for selection. https://m.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/116959/rachin-ravindra-jacob-duffy-get-maiden-call-ups-for-england-tests |
