Let's say 25 -30 years from now on. When 20-year-olds are discussing. I wonder how they will compare and rate the likes of Ranatunga, De Silva to Mahela and Sanga? Crazy to think.

At this rate, 20 year olds in 2050 are unlikely to follow SL cricket, let alone compare those players

I heard from a couple of Indians and Pakistani teammates that while people enrolling in club crickets and actually participating has increased, the amount of young generation showing genuine interest in cricket has actually declined. Dinesh Karthik talked about going to a school(or an academy) and asking kids how many of them want to play for India and like few kids put their hands up, while asked how many of them want to play IPL nearly all of them did. I'm interested to know how are things in SL ? Especially in the last few years?

It's hard to get a gauge of it, but this is just my personal experience. When I was 14-15, it was almost impossible to find someone from my age group who didn't follow cricket. Now I know a few of our relatives' kids from that group age who don't care about cricket.

Now a days it's all about getting quick money, hard work, dedication and commitment are things of the past. It's no surprise kids of today will prefer playing for t20 leagues rather than playing for the national team.
